Class Notes

The University of Arizona BookStores has partnered with UAs on-campus reproduction center Fast Copy to provide Class Notes to our faculty and students—a cost-efficient textbook alternative that compiles segments of various copyrighted course materials that have been approved for reproduction for educational purposes.

Class Notes content is compiled by the faculty member and submitted to Fast Copy. Once copyright approval is acquired, the Class Notes are printed, bound, and delivered to UA BookStores for sale in the Textbook Department with the rest of the student's required and optional course materials.

What are the advantages of creating Class Notes?

Class Notes are an affordable textbook alternative for students that contribute to the University's efforts to reduce textbook costs by reproducing limited amounts of copyrighted materials for the purpose of educational purpses into a single bound volume for your class. Material is paginated and printed two-sided (unless requested otherwise), and can be customized with a variety of binding and printing options. If individual chapters and readings are required from multiple books, Class Notes are constructed based on the syllabus or class needs.

Where do students purchase Class Notes?

Students can purchase Class Notes at UA BookStores in the Student Union, conveniently located in the Textbooks Department.

How do I order Class Notes?

Faculty can order Class Notes online or email the Fast Copy Class Notes team at copyrite@email.arizona.edu.

Why is copyright permission necessary?

It is illegal to reproduce copyrighted materials without the explicit permission of the copyright holder. Fast Copy handles all aspects of securing permissions and ensuring that the University is conducting business within the limits of the law. Copyright permission must be re-obtained for each semester.

Do I need to resubmit my materials each semester?

Not necessarily. Class Notes are digitally archived and can be easily retrieved from semester to semester. If your class structure changes we can make modifications as requested.

What if I don’t have all the originals?

If you have provided the publisher, book title and publication year, Fast Copy may be able to access hard-copy books and originals for scanning.
