FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This program works to make required material access easy, but we understand this process is new. Read through our FAQs for additional details about the program and how it affects you.

Pay One Price is for everyone taking a Main Campus Undergraduate Course.

All graduate students and undergraduate students who are enrolled in Arizona International, Arizona International Direct, Arizona Online, Community Campus, Distance, Phoenix and Southern Arizona will continue to utilize the Inclusive Access Program or purchase print books.

*Although not common, if you are a student taking an undergraduate Main Campus course, and also taking a graduate course or an undergraduate course through Arizona International, Arizona International Direct, Arizona Online, Community Campus, Distance, Phoenix and Southern Arizona, you will have required textbooks and expenses for both Pay One Price and Inclusive Access.

Digital is the default format for Pay One Price, if available. Digital formats cost less than new print, improve accessibility, are conveniently delivered to students through D2L, and don't require students to pick up print copies from the BookStores. Faculty may still request print textbooks. Students can also choose to opt out of Pay One Price and buy any format they prefer.

With Pay One Price, students pay a predictable flat rate or can choose to opt out for the full term (fall, spring, or summer). Alternatively, Inclusive Access pricing varies by title and students opt out by course.

The biggest difference between Pay One Price and Inclusive Access is that for Pay One Price, the single cost covers as many course material items as needed and may include some print materials.

Financial aid can be used to cover the $250 flat rate for Pay One Price in fall and spring semesters. If students qualify for summer financial aid, it can be used to cover Pay One Price.

Any required title and lab manual with an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is included in Pay One Price. Class Notes and courseware are included too. Course supplies such as lab coats, goggles, art supplies, Scantrons, examination books, etc. are not included in Pay One Price but can be purchased from the BookStores.

To access your digital content/textbooks for any given course, simply log in to the course page in your D2L account at d2l.arizona.edu. Select the Content link at the top of the page, select the Pay One Price and Inclusive Access module (this could have been renamed by your instructor so look for another module), select the Textbooks and Opt Out link. If you are unable to locate the links to digital content/textbooks, please contact your instructor.

Required print books are available for pick-up at the UA BookStores' flagship location in the Student Union Memorial Center one week before the course begins through the 10th day of class.

Yes, for certain materials. Access to content is controlled by each publisher and may range from 150 days to lifetime access.

Most eBooks that students read in VitalSource Bookshelf can be downloaded to a device and read after the term is over by using the free Bookshelf app. Ebooks that are a part of a homework manager or courseware are only usable for the semester they were originally provided; unless otherwise noted, access to these materials expires once the term is over.

Students keep any physical textbooks they receive under Pay One Price.

Yes, you may opt out of the program in D2L. The opt-out and refund deadline for Spring 2024 is January 23, 2024.

To opt-out, go to d2l.arizona.edu. Login with your NetID. Select > HOME, Select > My D2L Tools and proceed to "Pay One Price/Inclusive Access Opt Out/In"

You will receive an email confirmation from no-reply@verbasoftware.com with the subject line “YOUR PREFERENCE TO OPT-OUT HAS BEEN RECORDED” Please check your spam folder. Your Bursar account will be credited within 7-10 business days.

You will be opting out of Pay One Price for ALL your classes, not on a class-by-class basis. Opting out of Pay One Price does NOT drop you from your classes.

If you opt out of Pay One Price you must purchase the required materials on your own. You are not automatically included in Inclusive Access.

If you're taking a course that requires courseware (such as McGraw Hill Connect) to do homework or take tests/quizzes, check with your instructor to see if the courseware is mandatory. Courseware is included in Pay One Price's flat rate. However, students who choose to opt out of Pay One Price will lose access after the opt-out date and will need to buy the required courseware another way. Buying courseware directly from the publisher may cost more (and may require a credit card), so please weigh that when deciding whether to opt out of Pay One Price.

Yes, but only until the semester's refund deadline. For Spring 2024, the deadline is January 23, 2024. As long as that deadline hasn't passed, you can opt back into Pay One Price by visiting D2L.arizona.edu.

The flat rate of $250 for Pay One Price will be credited to your Bursar account within 7 to 10 business days of successfully opting out.

Because Pay One Price is digital-preferred, eBook access through D2L is easy for students who change classes before the add/drop deadline. Typically, within 24 hours, you should have access to your newly added course's digital materials.

If you add a class with a print book, see “How can I receive my required print textbooks that are not available in digital format?

If you drop a class with a print book, see “Do I need to return my print book?”

If you dropped the class that required a print book or opted out of Pay One Price prior to January 23, 2024, you need to return any printed materials provided no later than January 31, 2024 to avoid being charged the full new price to replace the print book.

Printed materials must be returned to the BookStores, on the lower level where you originally picked up. If you do not pick up the printed books/materials assigned to you by January 31, 2024, they will be forfeited and returned to the publisher.

Students can purchase individual books and courseware by going to https://arizona.vitalsource.com and searching by ISBN for the required materials. You will find the ISBN on the course materials that are listed in D2L. We recommend searching by ISBN rather than title to be assured you are purchasing the edition of the textbook or courseware that your instructor requested. A credit card is required.

A print book can be special ordered at the Textbook Customer Service desk in the lower level of the BookStores at current retail prices. Or students can buy print textbooks from the retailer of their choice.

Graduate students taking an undergraduate Main Campus class are included in Pay One Price. Depending on the courses being taken, a graduate student may have required textbooks and expenses for both Pay One Price and Inclusive Access.

You will continue to work with the Disability Resource Center (DRC). If you have questions about accessibility and using digital content or need an academic accommodation, please contact the DRC for assistance.

Not necessarily. Pay One Price is a digital-preferred course materials program. If a required course material isn't available digitally, a printed physical copy will be provided.

Go to d2l.arizona.edu. Log in with your NetID. Select one of your courses. Go to Content. Locate “Pay One Price” and “Inclusive Access” on the left hand side. (You may have to scroll to the bottom of the page). Click on “Textbooks and Opt Out”. This will take you to your VitalSource portal that shows all required materials. Each item has an icon that shows “Digital” or “Print”.

Another way to find your books would be through UAccess. Log into your UAccess account using your NetID and password and select “Booklist” under the ENROLLMENT drop-down menu.

The price per semester is the same for full-time and part-time students. Even some part-time students will find the $250 flat-rate price beneficial for their required materials. Others may decide that opting out is the best option for them.

If you're not enrolled in a summer course, you don't have to opt out of Pay One Price.
